RTS that's not pay to win?
I love the RTS genre and have gotten pretty hooked on some of the ftp ones over the years, but inevitably they become pay to win, which just ruins the game for me. I'd like to find a non pay-to-win clan based rts. I also don't want to have to micromanage individual units. If I have a building to upgrade I should be able to just click upgrade and not have to go track down a worker to do it. For examples of the games I've enjoyed Might and MAgic Heroes Kingdoms, Total Domination, Emporea. I just started war 2 glory but haven't played enough to get a feel for it yet

Starcraft: Free
Starcraft 2: All of multi-player and the first SP campaign are free.

It's impossible to pay to win in either of them.

How about open RA, a modern adaptation of the classic C&C serie MP only or vs AI.

I'm fine with buying the game or paying a reasonable subscription. I just want the outcome to be determined by gameplay not by who's willing to spend the most. What's RA?

Not a bad series that. I porefer the Blizzard style RTS's but it's a shining example of the westwood style. I can also recommend Dawn of War.

Dawn of War Gold + Dark Crusade, Age of Empires II (not HD edition), and the Command & Conquer Ultimate Collection on Origin are the best you'll find, in my opinion.

AoE2 is micro-intensive like Starcraft 2, OP said:

I also don't want to have to micromanage individual units

Sorry, I missed that. Sounds like Dawn of War and C&C3 are the best choices.

Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance are the two finest RTS ever made and it would be a sin not to have them in your library.

I was going to suggest this, but it involves a bit more micromanagement. Plus, you should probably buy Total Annihilation on GOG instead of Steam.
Not sure if this would be the pure RTS you'd be interested in but 'Tooth and Tail' is pretty good.
