Hide username from Steam friends?

I'm about to add a friend but I don't want him to see my posts on the Steam Forums.
The only way I can think of is to show a different username on my profile and Friend list other than my current username so that he can't actively search this name on forums to find my posts.

Is this actually possible?

no.

if you change your profile name, all posts you had made will show the new name. why are you worried about them seeing your posts?

Why would you want that?

Your posts are tied to tour name, they're tied to your account.

Regardless of what you do, your post history is public and everyone in the world can see it.

Do you know for a fact your friend is the kind of person who would want to search your post history?

i've been on Steam several years (and on various web forums even longer) and have never randomly looked for the posting history of any friend... ever..

The only time i look at someone's post history at all is if i suspect someone is a troll, so i want to glimpse what other stuff they've posted in the past. Beyond that, who is obsessive enough to stalk the post history of all their friends? i dunno! Seems weird to me.

i guess what i'm saying is, it's possible your friend is like me and doesn't give a about your post history.
