Is Epic Games Store Safe?
Besides all the crazy rumors going around about Epic, are they honestly safe to use? In the end all these game launchers are just companies trying to make money, so is it really that big of a deal if they make a few exclusives? I get why people are mad, I'd be mad too if I found out my favorite game was going to be on something other than Steam, but I don't see any problem with Epic as a company. I hear people saying that their accounts have gotten hacked, but I've never experienced any problems with Epic at all. So in your honest opinion, are they safe to use? Or are they really selling your information to the Chinese Government?

It's all rumors people made up for hate to EGS, they don't want to be viewed as whiny kids acting like their life's depending on video games, so they had to.
i hate EGS's exclusivity, but it's because i'd like to keep all of my games on steam, and EGS is still lacks feature and inconvenient to use. but steam was ♥♥♥♥♥ at start too, they'll improve for sure and people will calm down.
The fact that steam deleted 2 of my posts and another persons post from this topic speaks volumes. You go right on ahead and believe the fairy tales you spout. All I know is that after I made changes to my computer, POE and ARK run faster than they ever did as far as load times.
It's also a shame I know have to worry about being censored here as well as the other social media platforms.
I had installed their client before to play Shadow Complex which was given for free and uninstalled when i completed them. I'm not sure if it is the same client then and now. The only thing i remember is that it gave me lot of trouble to sign-in and i had to google up.

The only reason i have my hate for Epic Games is the exclusive which are not developed or published by them.

The way Epic store handles things and “offer” devs extra cash for exclusive deals is all quite questionable.
which is done from the consoleros since eternity. dunnow why epic gets flak for it when it is a common business practice since decades.

Possibly because the type of exclusivity deals you get between competing consoles is less common in pc game titles. Besides, being considered common business practice, doesn’t automatically make it right. Exclusivity deals are actually considered anti consumer. So I just dislike exclusivity deals in general. However I suspect they’re getting more flak because of the other reasons mentioned.

Personally I haven’t had a need to use the Epic Store, so I can’t really comment on what they’re like. I also haven’t done much research into them, so I can’t really say what credible evidence there is to back up the claims that they sell your info to 3rd parties etc.
My massive problem with Epic is that they aren't trying to earn my good will, they aren't trying to make me like them, they aren't trying to persuade me. They are trying to coerce me! with each timed exclusive they buy they do nothing other than earn my anger and they just aren't stopping!

It's bad enough that we have Orign, battle.net etc but at least EA and Activision own the IP's that they make exclusively to their stores! I don't like it but it's their IP so they can do what they want with it......
Epic, on the other hand, own NONE of these games,! They only have Fortnite.
One other thing Epic has is MONEY, lots and lots of MONEY. It's with that money they've spent the last 6 months throwing at publishers to make Steam users wait 12 TOTALLY POINTLESS MONTHS if they want it on Steam!

It's greedy, it's unethical, it's hurting the PC side of gaming as it's splitting the community and making us worry more whenever a new game comes out just in case it ends up being on the Epic games store!

WWZ, Metro: Exodus, Control, Ghostbusters: Remastered, Heavy Rain etc. All games I could play this year with no fuss, no bother, if Epic hadn't come along!!

EPIC WILL NEVER EVER GET MY MONEY!

I heard tencent mines your information and sells it to 3rd parties.

I couldn't care less if they do. Any information that is collected is very non-consequential.

It's not like they're mining our deepest, darkest secrets.
Tencent owns 40% of stock in EPIC

Epic games is a good deal backed by Tencent a Chinese company. Chinese companies tend to be a bit scummy and shifty. Chinese companies love to push microtransactions and mobile gaming and i'm really not a fan of games being dumbed down and bits held back intentionally to sell for microtransactions. Not only that but Tencent does also seem to "advise" companies on censure-ship as a few games under their control have removed/changed stuff or even released something entirely different to make it more suitable for the Chinese.

Oh and epic does lie. Said they would stop swiping up games so close to release. And crowd funded games that advertised they'd be on steam on release have been swiped up as well. People really don't like the lies companies tell to them like "we released it on epic store because the epic store is better" when epic store is so feature lacking for a company who has a good deal of funds from the currently biggest baby sitter in the world Fortnite. Not to mention they lock your account down for fraud if you buy too many games too quickly made worse by their sale and the fact there still is no cart feature on epic store. Says alot about how secure epic store is when they lock your account down for buying games.

They wanted money plain and simple and people would prefer at least companies would tell the truth of why they've partnered with epic instead of mumbo jumbo lies to push the epic store platform. And you most definitely bet the heads of the company are being paid to say this nonsense by epic is most likely part of their deal. I don't mind competition for steam but the way they're doing it is just nasty for consumers.
Well maybe it would be OK to just buy one game from them and see what happens. If it goes OK maybe buy another a little later.
