read and follow the steam trading policy and safe trading practices. you are the only one to blame for getting scammed
Consider this a lesson learned. Rules are in place to protect the user, and scammers rely on people's greed.
Don't be gullible, don't be greedy.
And most of all:
NEVER trade off-steam for any steam item, ever. Period. NEVER trade FOR NOTHING, either. Promises are empty, as is the 'get item' section on that steam trade window. You sent it, for nothing.
If you got scammed by someone, it's because YOU thought "hey I can get around this restriction" or "hey I can make WAY more money than this other way" or "I want that NOW!"
It's on your end as much as the people who prey on you.
Also the big red flag among all the other big red flags:
YOU HAVE TO SEND THE ITEM FIRST.
See that right there is "you giving away your item, period, forever".
Trading for nothing is ALWAYS dumb. It's uniformly a scam. It's not a crime, it's just *dumb*. And it's absolutely on the user for being greedy and thinking they can get something for nothing - but only if you do x and y and z and...
Trade only on steam in the trade window, and only for items you can actually confirm exist, AND only to a profile that you are *positive* is your 'friend'.
..
The skins are *gone*.
He gave them away. They're gone. Steam does not return given-away or scammed items, ever. They used to and guess what? Scammers lied and tried exploiting it.
Learn the lesson move on. Report the Steam profile, don't trade off steam ever.
How's that not clearly a scam?
