Thank you for replying.
I watched some videos on YouTube, I literally cannot find the options to switch graphics.
There are none, which maybe means that that's not a problem? I don't know, I followed every step, I simply cannot find those settings. I go to a right place, but there's no option for that.
Yes, I remember when I used Intel HD Graphics 4400, I have an integrated GPU, but still there's no option to switch graphics, so I suppose that that's not a problem.
The option is found by rightclicking your desktop, it should be in that menu.
Actually, that would indicate a problem, as your laptop is then running on said Intel graphics, making the game behave the way you describe. If you're sure that your computer has integrated graphics, it would seem your dedicated GPU isn't working properly. If you're not seeing the Nvidia Control Panel, it means things aren't properly installed/working.
Can you rightclick on your start button, then go to device manager and then check the graphics adapters to verify that BOTH the Intel and the GTX are on? I'd wager you'll see a yellow triangle next to the Nvidia one, indicating an error.
If they're both on, it would seem there is something wrong with the driver for the Nvidia card. Though check that last, first check the final option below.
One final option can be something that happened to my laptop 2 years back. I had to recalibrate the battery for the nvidia GPU to work. It meant turning of the laptop, taking the battery out for a minute and then putting it back. In my case, the battery couldn't be removed, so I had to turn off the laptop, then press AND hold the power button for a minute (laptop switches on and off then) for it to be good.
Fair odds that's your problem, an I3 processor is most likely NOT enough to run the game on high settings.
Start by posting the full specs and speed of the processor but the RECOMMENDED specs is an i5 3470 @ 3.2GHz (4 CPUs)
Your processor appears to fall well below that so I wouldn't be trying to play it on high.
Right, but first of all, lol, I'm on PC, not laptop, does that make a difference?
Second of all, we misunderstood. I do have Nvidia Control Panel.
I enter that, go to 3D settings > Manage 3D settings.
Then I get to choose, Global Settings or Program Settings.
As shown on YouTube, below those 2 options (global and program settings), should be a drop menu option to switch graphics, called "Graphic Processor of Choice", something like that. I do not have that option. I got everything else in Nvidia Control Panel, but option to choose "highprocessing nvidia processor", no.
I understand, but do not agree.
I'm playing GTA V on this same setup for 2 years now, haven't experienced this kinda thing ever.
Plus I was even playing GTA V on Very High/High settings, with 45-60 fps with no stutters and such things.
This happened really all of a sudden, I had no problems before.
I also play Battlefield 1 with Intel i3, every setting maxed out to Ultra, on 45 fps, no stutters, textures load, smooth gameplay.
Also Mad Max game, everything maxed out, smooth 60 fps without framedrops (well the gameplay is in desert so yeah)
I heard that Battlefield 1 is well optimized, but still, it runs like a dream. Even with my Intel i3, which I was amazed about.
EDIT: Intel i3 4170 @ 3,70GHz
That drop down menu should be there.
Did you check device manager?
I'm looking at it right now, where do I go?
I go to Display Adapters, only thing that pops out is GTX 1050, nothing else...
I checked everywhere, there's no sign of integrated GPU anywhere, so yeah...
It's possible that system automatically changed dedicated GPU to GTX 1050?
I mean, as I said, I'm playing GTA on this setup for 2 years now, and the problems I have, they just appeared out of nowhere... Everything was perfect before that, I really think that that's not the issue then, I mean everything worked, and then, just boom, stutters and texture problems... I don't know...
But the game is rather taxing on the CPU due to the amount of NPCs in the game that are doing things.
Just making sure. We've now established that there the issue doesn't lie.
Any changes you made recently? Driver updates or anything like that?
Did GTA 5 have an update? Anything in the GTA 5 forums that suggest more people have this issue?
While the game is taxing, if the problems come out of the blue after 2 years of playing, something is up.
at leats 1050's are only 100$ anymore...
btw this game requires 8 gigs of ram. NOT 8 gigs of ram after your windows and other programs have access to that... its not the same thing. allocation is a big thing... and online uses peer to peer so your load and connections to a server and the way it responds will differ between lobbies. 8 gigs alone will be ok for singple palyer BUT you will have issues online with such low ram especially with windows 10.
Yes, new Nvidia graphics driver. Yes, new GTA V 1gb update, shouldn't be a problem.
I think it's the driver, and I think it'll be fixed, I just gotta wait I guess?
Haven't checked forums or anything, but I watched some steamcommunity threads, some people had the same problem, and I even found some YouTube videos, but everything I found was like from 2014 so yeah...
I talked to some GTA players Online, literally no one has this issue, like me.
My friends doesn't have any problems either.
I will check some forums or something real fast, but really, every thing I found was from 2014, so...
Thanks for staying with me tho, hope we fix this problem.
I'm sorry, I didn't say one thing. I lied I guess? I'm sorry hahaha...
I got the same setup for 2 years now, EXCEPT, I bought GTX 1050 LAST YEAR, in June... Everything else, RAM, CPU, is old, and not new like 1050.
Also, I don't play games all day, every day, and not that ones (BF1, GTAV) I play like 3 days a week, 2-5 hours daily, and in the last 3 months I've been playing only Half Life 2, GTA V, and Far Cry 3...
So, the GPU is pretty much new, and I haven't really used it THAT much, so yeah, I guess there's no problem with GPU, but maybe CPU is a problem? Or RAM? I mean everything is pretty much new, I have it for 2 years now, but haven't used it every day since then.
EDIT ON YOUR EDIT : Well, guess what, I got more problems in Singleplayer than in Online, which is weird, I don't know why is that ahahahaha...
Try rolling back the driver and see how that affects things.
And sure thing. Though I will be off to bed soon, It's around midnight here. :D
Yeah, it's 00.31 here, gonna go to bed too! :D
But yeah, I'll try that when I got some time, cause Imma be off to a vacation in a couple of days, so I don't really have time for PC, I'll try it when I come back then.
I'll be back in like August 23rd, hahaha but okay...
Maybe when I come back it'll fix itself, who knows?
I appreciate the help.
Good night
