Activision, Ubisoft no longer put newer games on Steam
I am guessing is it safe to say future games from both publisher are no longer on sale on Steam?

I seriously doubt EA will be back. Origins seems to be doing fine and they are releasing games huge enough to be able to sustain a steady amount of player base.

I think Ubisoft has been banking on this for sometime and the timing could not be better with Epic Game Store coming around with deals good enough for them to test out the respond.

Just never thought that I could also no longer see Activision. Destiny and CoD 4 is online based so banking on the Battle.net backbone seemed like a good idea but with the announcement of CoD Modern Warfare, we can be pretty sure it is a permanent thing that future games will no longer be in Steam.

I though with all these digital store front, it should bring more opportunities to publishers, game developers and also players like us. Instead I find that there are more cons to it...so much to the future of gaming...

There is no real con to the player to have multiple storefronts......

I am from Malaysia. Steam offers many features including currency localization. Battle.net used to have currency in SGD but no longer and other digital store front does not have this.

Also, the features in steam not only brings community closer but we can find people who can offer help to make friends that plays games together.

Of course having multiple store front is great as it supports open market but forced monopolization and exclusiveness drives people into groups.

Multiple store front should mean all games are available on all store fronts. This way buyers can choose to buy on which ever platform or store front they prefer.

What!? Activision and Ubisoft would be no longer in Steam, particularly the new ones?

Don't know but looking at the trend seems likely. Many Ubisoft games are exclusive to Epic Games Store or Uplay while Activision games mainly CoD are in Battle.Net only.

Two is far from being many and seeing as one of those they still sold preorders for on Steam and they have had a very rocky relationship with Epic it is too early to say Ubisoft are gone for good.

How so? I don't see any pre-orders. Last was Anno and that was like put on Steam long ago before the sage erupted. Also Ubi was boasting how Epic was great and doing better than expected. Where have you read about the rocky relationship?
i dont think Ubisoft and Activision are really about to jump ship

i think the whole BO4 ordeal was more of a testing the waters to see how well it could sell

Yeah and Anno and the Division 2 are the only ones so far not to be on Steam. As for why I say the relationship with Epic has been rocky it is because I have seen how Epic forced them to remove Division 2 from sale on 3rd party sites and how the games were taken off the Epic store for a month before only recently coming back.

Oh and Ubisoft didn't say Epic was doing great only that Division 2 sold more than the first game (which is a no brainer) and that they had very good figures from the Uplay launcher.

Disregard EGS, if Ubisoft can proof that sales are still strong by swaying away from Steam and sustaining on their own store front, more and more publishers will do so.

And in the end, ESG will simply be a stepping stone in the process and all the money they dishes out will be some sort of guarantee/bonus to these publishers.

except Ubisoft have not proven that only that the second game in a series sold better than the first which is a basically guaranteed situation because while the first has to lure in new players who have no investment in the series the second gets those players and the extra ones that liked the first and buy the second because of it. They have not anywhere said the sold more than they would by using Steam as well only that they sold more on that store than it would have if people were able to buy it on Steam as well which is again a pretty empty statement after all selling 50000 instead of 40000 in one shop is an improvement for that shop but it doesn't mean you wouldn't be better off by selling 40000 in one and 40000 in the other.
