Why no Terminator games on Steam?
I am curious why there are no Terminator games on Steam. I had one once. I forget the name of it, back in the early 2000's. You played as the humans or the Terminators. Personally the Terminators died too easily, but it was an online team play death match game after all, but it could of been handicapped to have less Terminators who were more powerful and harder to kill, with more weak humans. Regardless anyone know why there are no Terminator games on Steam?

Wasn't that dune game the first decent RTS? I've never played it because obviously.

How do all these older games, that Nightdive are renewing, come out then? Surely their license has all, but expired.

Harvester is a gem.

So is I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream. Coincidentally about an AI computer that frees itself, destroys humanity and tortures constantly the last few survivors on earth in it's dungeon... Skynet anyone?

Not based on a IP they don't own, that's the big difference. It's their own IP, so they don't have to pay anyone else to use it.

Well there was a book or at least a short story for I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream. Not sure how IP that is.

Regardless I found this YouTuber last night. Retro games/styled is what he mostly plays. If you ever plan on playing these older games some time in the future, you may want to skip or only watch a little. Personally it made me more interested in playing it and shows how these two games helped with most games that came after them.

^^its made by the same people, who gave us Rambo The video game

.....i have zero hope that this will be any good, and i wouldn't be surprised if its another on rail shooter
The short answer is, IP and licensing are complicated.

Long answer, a lot of old games might be on Steam because the publisher or developer has all sorts of games on Steam and throwing up an old title to make $50 is simple. But not literally every developer or publisher feels that way, they may determine it's not worth it. And that's assuming it's just a simple choice and the active rights holder for an IP is actively selling their old catalog.

And if any of that is in question or is in dispute, well that's that, call us up when you have the details sorted out.

So when you ask why this game or that game isn't or is on Steam. Those details are game specific.Old games are not in the same bucket where whatever is happening with game A, the same ought to be happening with game Z.
