"Haunts My Dreams" wasn't about "Games that induce fear", but games you can't stop thinking about even after stopping playing. Reading its description could have prevented such a confusion. Nevermind, wrong category.

That category was for games that make people tense due to how fast-paced they are.

It was basically for games that evoke some sort of reaction on the player. fear wasn't the only option. Anxiety is a very palpable reaction, as is excitement.

100 people, most of which will be trying to kill you and you may not know where they are,shrinking play area, and there is no respawn like most shooters so once you die, your game is over for that match.

Definitely seems intense to me. Not that it's something I'd play as I'm not a fan of those kinds of shooters, but it definitely is intense from what I've seen in streams.

Now let's keep in mind that half the community voted those games at semi-random just to get over with it and get the cards.

Pretty much without exception, every single game listed in the awards had the most popular game win every time. It didn't matter if other games better fit the 'reward', people always pick their favorite game.

As popular as PUBG is, it doesn't surprise me at all that it won. Frankly while that game would probably have me feeling a bit jumpy, I wouldn't say that it 'induces fear'. But hey, not everyone is going to look at each individual game and vote for the one they thing is best suited to the reward... or hardly anyone, for that matter.

Because people just nominate their favorites whether they're appropriate or not. It's the same reason the Witcher got nominated for a "guilty pleasure" category and why most of the "Can't We Get Along" choices are 3 years or older. As much as people complain about innovation and new games, people tend to cling to the same popular games over and over.

you ever play pubg? i sure haven't, but it seems like you don't really know what either the category or game are about. pubg is super anxiety-inducing since it's either kill/be killed and that's exactly what the category description says

Only a Horror game should've won that... I play PUBG and it does not induce fear. Adrenaline more than anything. Here's what induce fear for me:

Layers of Fear
Alien Isolation
SOMA

Etc. And Horror games REALLY freak me out.

You can't camp. Not for long anyway. Every so often, the play area decreases in size, and if you're outside the play area, you take damage until you get back into it or die. So you can't just stay in certain spots an entire game.
