I have just been hacked by someone on my friend's list who i added 3 years ago using only my steam guard code.
The person asked me for my steam code after he said he would trade me an item because he was quitting or something. He got me to give him my steam guarde code and then in 3 seconds my account was logged out and details changed. How can this happen? I already sent a help request support ticket etc, but I'm in urgent need of assistance.

How could this happen? You gave away your account credentials...

You can report that person on their profile.

Yeah that was stupid of me actually, I never knew a steam guard code would just get my account hijacked. I never told the guy my password or anything of that matter.

Ohh they had your password cause they could not have logged in without it. Probably you have malware on your computer.

Hmm.. well I'm protected by malwarebytes so I'm not sure if that's the case. He asked me for my account name and steam code from steam guard. How long do you think my help request ticket will be responded? It's currently holidays so I feel like they might not respond until after New Year's.

recently was similar story in the Russian-speaking section - it turned out that the user himself was to blame, and besides everything was different he show \ say SGMA codes to his "friend", but it was quick and he have time to change password

remember SGMA codes not expires fast, it actual at least 5 minutes!

And you do not read the anti-virus message correctly: "No viruses found" does not mean that they do not exist, it means "No known viruses detected" ;)

he didnt need the pw - you gave him username and code - all he hadto do was login as 'forgot my password' - you gave him all he needed to reset pw and walk right in

Yep that's exactly what happened. You're right. Now we're at the recovering process so how long do you think Steam support will respond to my ticket.

couldn't say as I've never had to go thru acct recovery, but best o' luck (and be more careful/suspicious in the future)

alright so i self locked the account when i went on to my original email. Might be a little too late with my items since it's already been 2 hours, but hopefully, I get my account back in due time. Any more suggestions or advice to speed up this process will be great. Thanks for your comments so far.
