Violent profile picture allowed? Yay or Nay?
I'm just wondering if my current profile picture follows the regulations of Steam's terms.

It's taken from a comic written by Garth Ennis, who is known for graphic content.

If it follows the terms, it'll stay. If it doesn't, i'll simply remove it, and choose another to take its place.

Depends.

1. It is something that you were allowed take and upload as work of your own?

2. Does it involve killing or harm to others?

It's an illustrated picture of a man getting his jaw shot off.

As for being work created by another, I credit Ennis in my profile description for the picture. It was made for viewing for the public, but i'm wondering about using it as a profile picture equals being viewed by the public.

Not allowed. It's NSFW/inappropriate. any gore is nsfw. check content rules under https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=4045-USHJ-3810

Ok. Thank you for informing me. I'm glad to find this out before any repercussions were given.

Rule of thumb: If you have to ask, it probably is.

Although the "official avatars" that Steam provide - they are perfectly happy with people with Jaws falling off, or people being stabbed through the mouth and throat with a sword.

Well, that's a little hypocritical of them.

none of that is relevant. all that is relevant is if your avatars offends someone and they report you, then likely it will be removed.
