Golden Border/ Name - Where does it come from?

I recently noticed a person on my friendlist does have a golden border / name.

After some research I came across how it's done and it outrages me that people use exploits instead of legitimately aquiring it.

I also noticed that some friends of the person also have a golden border what upsets me even more.

Valve really should do something about it and punish people. Sure it's a left over thing but it makes people look like they're someone special and they clearly are not

It's a script. I advise you not to use it, as Steam Moderators have previously warned other users to change their profiles back to default. They ought to do this in order to prevent any possible future penalties.

In my opinion they should right away ban these people. Like I said, they could easily impersonate someone or something.

They can't really impersonate anyone, the problem is that they can easily deceive new Steam users and swindle their items. The golden border could potentially give them a special reputation.

Well I'm sure something will be done about this, although I'm not sure what exactly. Let's hope it gets fixed soon.

It's not that, it's the fact you are using an exploit, which could be punishable. Am cool with my name being white, but still. But I do hope that it won't bite back on the long run.
