Native American representation in games?
After a recent discussion with a friend about the game, Never Alone (which takes place in the area where we lived - well, where she still lives - a couple of years ago), we wondered if there were (m)any other games that give any accurate Native American representation, or draw legitimate inspiration from Native American lore.

After some searching, we found sadly little. Perhaps we didn't use the correct search terms, or something - who knows?

Anyhow, is this the situation? Are there really so few games like this?

Never Alone does. It has some interesting cutscenes that are actual documentaries of the people.

The original Prey draws from indigenous lore and features a Cherokee lead.

The "original" Prey? The only one I see here on Steam is the one that comes out this next year.

I'm not sure if the original was ever on Steam.

Good luck finding a copy of that.

It was and I own it. https://steamcommunity.com/app/3970/discussions/

If you can find a retail copy, they still activate on Steam as well.

Actually took the recommendation and found one for sale online for like $6.50. Figured, "meh." I'll check it out, though!

Thunder from Killer Instinct recently got an alternative costume that is more accurate of the Nez Percé tribe, he represents.

The original version.

Also the representatives of the Nez Percé tribe helped Mick Gordon with Thunder's theme.

Interesting - really cool, actually, that they'd update it!

Somehow discovered this thread when looking for more information on Anthony Toyaaxnin Smith and the production and inspiration of Hinnamatoom, probably my favourite Mick Gordon track to date. Unfortunately there seems to be a lack of any sort of documentation when it comes to it.

I have played Prey '06 and I am very curious for more native american culture/mythology being explored in video games. I don't think since this thread original took place, there has been many examples of such, other than maybe some in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Have any of you found otherwise?
