True Free to Play MMORPG games

Not sure if this is the right place to talk about this, but I was wondering if anyone could give me some info on some true FTP MMORPG games?


The only game I know I don't want to play is Path of Exile. True it has one of the best in game shops out there but I'm not a fan of the gameplay.


Other than that, are there any cool ones I could discover? Maybe even ones not on Steam? Thanks!

Most perfect world games have a way to earn premium currency built in, though you are looking at a great deal of farming for little return. There really isn't a whole lot that fit your request, as all games have to earn money to stay alive.

Do you want totally free games with no paid features?

Guild Wars 2 is free to play now, you can play the whole pre-expansion content for free but your character is restricted in some ways. The full game requires no monthly fee after you buy it either but there is a store.
EVE Online is similar, you can play all you want without paying but you are restricted from skills for certain ships.

What I mean by "true free to play" is playing the MMORPG with having the least amount of need to buy in game shop as possible. Now I know that ALL MMORPG games have to have a shop to make money. Don't get me wrong. But what I'm looking for is having the most freedom as possible in a FTP MMORPG game.

Then those two examples i posted could fit your thing since you get a lot of content for free but are limited in stuff like equipment.
Depends on what you think is important I guess, guild wars 2 gives you a whole lot of areas quests and story for free. Maybe worth a try?

No game forces you to buy anything. You can play all such game without spending a dime

Yeah, its a fair question now when you explained it better but the "true" thing is not a good name for it. Maybe most generous free to play game?

I may be biased but I'd say Wildstar. They have an in-game currency called Omnibits that even those without a signature subscription can earn which can be used in the game store and you can buy signature with in-game currency if you want it.

I understand that all games won't force you to do that. I guess I just look at the restrictions and see if it's worth paying to get rid of the restriction first before I actuelly play the game.

I tried Wildstar but did not like it. I felt as if I was playing WOW.

Outside suggestion: not an MMO, arguably an RPG, but it's non-simultaneous multiplayer using a base singleplayer mode with bones files: Nethack.

You can download Nethack to run on your own computer, and it's a really small game. Or you can play it online on a server.

There's a Nethack server at alt.org where you can play and then you can also log onto its associated IRC channel where the players hang out and discuss strategies and such. There's even a ♥♥♥ that helps you lookup info on monsters and items. And because it's a server where many people play, you get to run into many other players' bones files.

It's also all free. And you don't need to download game files since it just uses ASCII characters for graphics. You could potentially telnet into the server from any computer, within seconds.
