Games to get for parents?

So christmas is coming up and I want to grab a few games specifically for my parents, for a bit of background they have played Nintendo to the N64 and my Platforms and PC and Playstation.
Just as general they are fine with dirty humor, violence and all that stuff but what can I get that is fun and doesnt have too many controls.
My mother plays a lot of kingdom type social strategies on her phone, so something simple but MMO for her.
Then my father is a few years older than her and stopped playing after the gamecube came out, but he likes stuff that is funny, action, light rpg elements, not in the skyrim or final fantasy kind of way, like kid ic on super nintendo.
They are in their early-mid 30's so they arent that old.
Suggestions?

Can get it for less else where, I don't buy ahead because he has a bad habit of buying things for himself that we get him

You might want to consider Fallout 4. It has RPG elements, a community building system, and a fair amount of humor.

They also might enjoy Portal 2. Fun game with humor. Also the coop mode would allow them to play with you or each other.

I do have to agree with portal. You can be a newcomer to video games and easily get into it. Especially best idea for the coop aspect :)

Depending on how old you are, you may be as old as the OP's parents.

There are looooads of early mid-30s gamers on Steam. So a lot of people the same age as the OP's parents. i bet some of them can't imagine having a child old enough to really game beyond simple Leap Frog stuff! Hahah!

Us old people like to game still. We ain't dead quite yet, just need a walker to get around Skyrim.

Thanks for some of the suggestions @Everyone. I own F4 so I guess Ill try to adjust it to be easier with a few mods and difficulty change and show them. Ill checkout Stardew valley and Doom 3,my father was a fan of the first Doom. and I'll show them around steam to see if they do find anything interesting.

Thanks for the suggestion, just checked it out and seems like my mom would enjoy (she likes minecraft actually), and with over 98% Positive feedback seems like its hard to go wrong with it.
