Good 3rd Person (!) Horror Game

Yeah.. that's what I'm looking for.

Most important for me is atmosphere! (means darkness, cool setting, not too much action but thrilling story)

So, any suggestions for atmospheric 3rd person horror titles are very much appreciated.

Games I already know: Silent Hill 2 (that one was truely great), RE series (too action-focused imho), Alone In The Dark, The Evil Within (they screwed that one up so badly)

Maybe searching for the impossible but let's give it a try.

Aside from Alan Wake, I think you're gonna have to dig for some older games. The PS2 had a few good horror titles: Rule of Rose, the Siren series (one of which is on the PS3), Haunting Ground, and Kuon come to mind.

I guess there's Deadly Premonition, but it's not terribly atmospheric and only has horror elements. Still a great game, though. There's also I Am Alive, which excels at a tense, post-apocalyptic atmosphere, but it's a shorter game and again just has horror elements.

You could try Dead Space, though it's got about as much action as RE4 had.
