Steam Desktop Shortcut Icons no longer showing(Image is ether URL Globe or Blank Paper)
just happened yesterday, didnt pay much attention to it,
but got on today and it seems its a problem i cant fix on my own,

all my Steam Desktop Shortcut Icons are no longer showing,
they all appear as ether the (URL Globe) or the (Blank Paper) icon,

methods ive tried to use to fix this,
1) Control Panel\Programs\Default Programs setting URL to Internet Browser,
---nothing happened(every icon on my PC flashed but broken Icons didnt change)
2) Revaladating Game Files, as per using steam,
---nothing happened(Icons still not Fixed even when creating a new short cut)
3) Changing Icons back with Icons(C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam\games)
---nothing happened(Icons still not Fixed even when creating a new short cut)
4) reinstalling Steam,
---nothing happened(Icons still not Fixed)

hoping to find a solution to this problem,
any advice would be apreciated,

Here's the solution which worked for me having an empty steam/games folder (the folder where the ICO files reside usually) after I reinstalled Steam. I'm using Windows 10.

Go to Library - Games. Select the game you want to fix the blank shortcut icon for. Right click on the game, select Properties. Select the "Local Files" tab. Click the button "Verify Integrity Of Game Cache". After verifying has finished (it may take a while) a new game icon has been created in your Steam installation steam/games folder. Right click on the blank icon, select Properties and change the icon by hitting the "Change Icon..." button, navigating to and selecting the newly created icon file. Hit "OK" twice and have fun!

So far, nothing I've tried works with this evil pile of microsoft garbage called windows 10. This is the most user unfriendly pig that microsoft ever unleashed on an unsuspecting world. I can't download the games or create desktop icons because this absurd pile of diseased idiotsoft monkey excrement blocks everything I try to do on Steam.

Ironic you are whinning about Windows 10 when the fault lies with the Steam client for not creating the icons properly.

Also you are claiming you cannot fix this issue yet there are several threads where it explain that you have to manually change the icon to what it should be by navigating to where Steam has installed the game.

well " myself changed the icon, I know where they are, and I even did the steps here too, and I am on crappy windows 10 too, but even when you change the games icons it still does not "Launch" the games using the shortcuts for desktop to do it, I can only launch any of the games on steam I brought and downloaded for Free, through Steam launcher no place else !
I'm having a internet connection failed in desktop trying to install Firefox after update... was working fine before. What can I do to resolve this???
This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
