Full Screen Display Issues for Game Trailers in the Store-Please Help!
When I try to watch game trailers in full screen I get black bars on the side and a large white bar on the bottom.
Does anyone know how to fix this? As I stated above, when I try to stream a game trailer from the store in full screen, I get two black bars on the side and one large white bar on the bottom. It's annoying as heck and just started last night after I updated STEAM and my Nvidia drivers. I don't know if either one of the updates screwed something up or if a kiten jumped on my keyboard when I wasn't looking and screwed up a setting somewhere. Accordingt to my Nvidia control pannel, I am using the right resolution, 1920x 1080. It only seems to be when I am using STEAM to view the video trailers, I have no problems when I use my web browser. Any help would be much appreciated.

I am experiencing the same issue. I can see the video fine when in Big Picture mode, which I never use, but get nothing but a black screen when i try to go full screen from the standard Large Mode in the app. Note: this is only from the app. If I go to the Store in my browser and play a video in full screen, it works just fine.

for me the store screen freezes, and i see half a blue bar at the top that says "Steam HTML Full Screen"

two client updates ago it broke. last update it says fixed fullscreen videos in store. nope, still broken.

My issue was strictly with the regular desktop application on my PC. The last update fixed it for me, but simillar problems happened to me before with previous updates. It may take an update or two for them to get it worked out for you two as well.

Same issue as impetus here - just see a header / window bar at the top saying "Steam HTML FullScreen".

so is this even on Valve's 'to do' list?

That should have been resolved last month... Hmm...

Same exact issue as the OP here...

Post a bug report. That is different than what is stated in this thread.

Follow the instructions in the pinned thread on this forum...

Not the same issue. As stated above, this occurs when trying to watch game videos in full screen mode using the Steam app.

so is there no working solution for this? Or just display in Big Picture Mode?

The only solution appears to be to wait for them to correct it in a future patch. My problem resolved within 2 patches and it hasn't happedned again since. I do seem to recal it hapipening once before. It seems evey patch seems to break this for some people and fix it for others.

i don't think valve is going to fix this.

if i really want to watch a game trailer i just copy the page URL, and put in a working browser.

Unfortunately, in your case you are most likely correct. Yours is a slightly different issue and has been an ongoing problem since at least December when you commented on this thread. To be honest, the Steam browser is terrible in the best of condions. I often open the video in a different browser becaue of lag that occurs here and no where else on my system. I use FIOS on a desktop with direct access through ethernet so I dont't have to worry about sharing the Wi-Fi wiht the wife and kids and Steam still lags when I watch a video. It is a terrible browser.
