Private profiles
Why is this still a thing? I don't see the point of people "hiding" their profiles like they have some bad comments or w/e. It also looks kinda suspicious.

Regardless of private or not there is plenty to see if you are like certain people who stalk peoples post history on here. Tons of people like to prove a point or be right online to seem smart or cool, it's quite nice to hide things from people with a private profile so they are not petty.

I don't see the point in checking/stalking ppl profiles, complaining about a private profile and their privacy. Stil can see post history and add peoples which have decent behavior in game for example.

Because it's an option, and privacy is a right.

Gotta love post histories, they tell me all I need to know. I don't need to know what games they play or who their friends are, because none of that matters to me. Instead, I only need to know if they have been consistently toxic towards other users.

Gotta love people who check post histories and judge soley based on that (text can still be edited), oh and those that fuel the fire and make people be toxic or the ones that can't read and just side with the crowd. Oh and the ones that have tons of "friends" and get them to back them up on posts, yeah. Experience tells me all I need to know. And those that constantly pretend to be nice, or be fake online. Bonus points if those friends believe whatever you say and follow you blindly.

No one can make someone be toxic, it is entirely a person's choice whether or not they choose to be toxic to others. If you're playing in a game where your teammates are all teamkilling griefers, do you grief them back? That makes you just as bad. I just grit my teeth and complete the match before leaving, or if it's really intolerable, I leave.

Text can still be edited, but if the time of edit is way too far apart from the time of the original post, that tells me that the original meaning is most likely hidden.

No one makes people pretend to be something they are not online, it's entirely a person's choice. In some cases people use the safety to be toxic, some just voice opinions and get attacked for it, and some care too much about their online "friends" and popularity so they act all goody. Hiding behind your false goodness can be just as bad as being toxic. You see theres toxic people but theres also pretend helpers around these parts. The goodies, the ones that pretend, they are the most suspiscious. At least with toxic people I know they are being open about it. I just grit my teeth at the people that are fake online, which is a lot of people, its really sad and you don't know whos decent, so I avoid them.

No one makes them do it but they do it for popularity you see, they don't alter what they post because they think they are always right, they stick to the rules, well the rules in their mind. They put on a front, to make you think their intent is good but really its something else and is hidden.

What gives you the right to demand the means to invade my privacy?
Same question but some peoples sure that they are right to do it.

Public profiles are fun.
  • You have a stupid picture
  • You are level 192, so you used money to get up, loser
  • I see your inventory, friend me, I like you so much, please friend me
  • 246 friends, wow, you have many friends. Do you have as many on facebook too? It is good to have friends. Really good to have so many real friends.
  • I just downvoted all your reviews!!!!!11!! (not really)
  • You play game XYZ! YOU are are silly person because of that . Game xyz is for losers.
  • Your screenshots suck. I downvoted them all and added a penis drawing as comment to each one of them!!!111! (not really)
  • Your achievements are all hacked because of reason.
  • I added some comments to your profile. Keep all the +rep, delete all the -rep. Oh, then +rep does mean nothing, too bad
  • why did you play "Talisman: Digital Edition" yesterday? That game is bla bla.
  • ... lots of other things that can happen to a public profile

alternative:

  • Quiet
  • Only my few selected contacts (no, they are not friends) can see what I do.
  • Only my few selected contacts can comment.
  • It is still possible to harass me, but why make it easy?

Better to deal with people who only pretend to be nice but actually end up contributing and helping others, than to deal with people who never contribute because they are toxic most of the times. Which is better? The guy who donated $1 million dollars to charity only to look good, or the guy who says all charity is a sham and so refuses to donate? Because that is the comparison that is being made here. I'd rather the world have more of the former since they actually do good, even if their intentions are not. But that's just my opinion ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah, I think that is right.
You will never know if you now know the real reasoning of someone.
But you can know his actions. Words are cheap.

Just to not stay with the subject, I liked the avatar picture of Maria, now I added this to my wishlist:

On the flip side, anyone who makes the above assumptions isn't someone I'd want to chat with anyway. So it works both ways.

Aehm. I am sorry.
But you totally did not understand my post.

There is no need to reread it. You'll not understand it.

It is kind of funny, you know? You try to attack me, but your attack shows that you did not understand what you read. So... if you had kept your silence, everything would have been ok, now we all know you are not so smart.

My point was not very complicated, so, for you to not understand it... sorry. Must be hard to be you.

The forums or intertnet in general is not a place to compete your lives or prove things. Your intelligence or morality is not proven on here. Stop the damn witch hunts or glory hunting for gods sake.

Whoa there. My post wasn't an attack on you at all. If that's what it seemed, I do apologize.

I'll review your post again and see what I missed.

EDIT: Ok, I'll bite. My assumption (which clearly was wrong) was that you were voicing support for private profiles (which you have) and pointing out how some people might snoop on public profile users and draw nonsense conclusions based on publicly accessible data.

Hence my reaction that I wouldn't want to mingle with those kind of people.

Break it down for me. Are we just on two different pages...so to speak?
