Almost every major commercial chat client (going as far back as the original release of ICQ back in the day if anyone else remembers it) censored things they deemed were necessary.. If you don't like it, don't use it

I'm pretty sure any groups breaking any kind of rule (possibly including having relation to those sites) may be deleted if reported. Try asking one of the community moderators, they may know the reason it's censored.

Hey, why not go the full 9 yards and just disable chat entirely? It's not like anybody needs to hear those pesky opinions.

The link filter is used in chats to prevent people from sending known scam links to their friends.

If you want to link to that site use another chat service. Steam will not be removing it's protection.
