Steam Link can not connect to your pc through port 27031
Hi, I recently bought a steam link and whilst setting it up I came across an error that i cant fix, when I try to connect to the host PC it says " Could not connect to your PC through port 27031, Ive tried looking up the problem with no success. Ive tried also to forward the ports it uses and to also disable all firewalls that are active through my pc and router to see if it is blocking it however still no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

Had same issue. Followed this - https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8571-GLVN-8711
Now all resolved.
did you port forward everything or just the two for inhome streaming?
Hi, it turns out it was avast blocking the connection, try disabling your anti virus or Windows shield for an hour and try it. Took me a long time to figure this out

What worked for me in win10 was goto firewall & network setting then to your network which is now private in win10 scroll to bottom and make sure incoming connections is UNCHECKED meaning allowed.
Since an windows update the windows defender blocks incoming connections, so you have to allow them.

go to your windows defender security center -> private networks and then remove the checkbox for "block all incoming connections, including the approved list of apps"

i dont know the exactly string for this, because my windows language is german.
My wifi extender was blocking the port as well.

try and disable your firewall on windows defender or any other antivirus software you have on that turned out to be the route cause of all the issues

I know this is an old thread but this was my fix but I have AVG, I was on public after switching to private it starting working better

That's already the answer given. Public and private are different firewall rules on the AV.

Not only on the AV. Windows shuts down several network features when on a public network. So when you're at home but told your Windows to treat it as public, file sharing, the most basic of network features, won't work either.
