Some people are getting steam games for free!
A few minutes ago, I was looking at the reviews for gmod and I saw a review that said "obtained this game for free.". How do people on steam even earn games for free? That doesn't seem right!

A number of ways. Gifted, humble bundle (I'm guessing that it could be bundled with other games?), illegal, findings keys online, etc.

People have made enough reputation as a reviewer that they will get a lot of games for free. But some of them get so many free games that they can't play them all or review them all. So it's just work for them.

-There are many giveaways online. There are steam groups promoting those giveaways. And indiegale gives a free game every few weeks orso. There are a few other giveaway sites that gives many games away, if you complete their tasks like joining steamgroups and twitter etc
-Others could have won the game at sites like steamgifts
-Some games were temporarily free on the steam store, like saint row 2
-Some people could also got keys from friends, these friends got their key from cheap bundles. There are many bundle sites like otakumaker, humble bundle, bundlestars, daily indie game, indiegala and more. Bundle star is currently selling a cheap $1 bundle with around 27 games
