Tencent is a big Chinese internet company. US companies need to partner with a Chinese company to do business there, so I'm assuming Valve is about to partner with Tencent, or has already partnered and there are some changes afoot.

Either way, OP would be better off posting on Chinese centric networks like Weibo rather than the primarily Western audience here who doesn't give a crap.

I believe this tencents or what ever is meant to be the new steam killer......

Valve is a private company and that means the only way for Tencent to buy them is for Valve to sell it to them. I doubt this will ever happen as Valve doesn't seems to have any money shortage.

Personal opinion: Don't really want to be in business with another company to buy and play my games... I mean (most) of the titles I like are already on steam, not seeing any reason of why I should be using it here.

Those "Chinese-centric networks like Weibo" are heavily monitored and censored by the Chinese government.

That might be a possible reason some people aren't happy with companies like Tencent that limit players' gaming experience and on top of that report to the Chinese government.
