You missed the point, He does not need to be, he is not the one who ask for free games.
/I'm out.
I never claimed to be "somebody." I'm pointing out a fact. What's your audience? How many subscribers do you have? What's your youtube channel? What's your Twitch? What possible commercial gain would Garry get from giving you a free game?
I'm not calling you a "nobody" as an insult. And I don't mean that you're not "somebody" as an individual person with hopes, dreams and feelings.
Think of it this way. It would be like me, walking up to Steven Spielberg and asking to be cast in his next movie for a lead role and I want 10 million upfront. Also...I have no acting experience and I'm not an A-list actor...in fact I'm a NO-list actor.
Again, this was a "review" you wrote:
"vry adictv must tri dis gam cuz it iz gud stuf m8 rspct teh art so u mast spnd som $$ to get dis gam"
You have a few other reviews that are like a paragraph with a few pros and cons. Great...but that's still garbage. No offense. I'm not claiming that all of my reviews are solid gold. But I don't expect to get free stuff on the basis of those reviews either.
You expect to get one of the top 10 most played games on Steam that was released 4 years ago for free...so you can "curate" it? That's not happening. They don't need some random person to review it all of a sudden when it's already one of the top 10 played games on Steam.
If you want to make a name for yourself, then buy games and write reviews for them. Not just Steam reviews. Make youtube videos, write actual articles. GameSkinny is a website that let's you self-publish and get real visibility for articles about gaming. I would recommend starting there.
But don't get expect to get free games. Buy them yourself.
I'm not upset. I'm just trying to talk some sense into you. Let's go back to your original question. How does PCGamer get free games? Let me answer that. They get free games because they're one of the largest, top-selling syndicated PC gaming publications in circulation around the world, with both a physical publication and an online presence.
So there's your answer. Become one of the top gaming publications in the world...or get a job with one of them and then you can get free games easily.
If you want free games, there are free game groups that keep you posted about free game offers. If you want cheap games, there are tons of third-party bundle sites where you can get all kinds of meh-okay-decent-great games for cheap.
Not only that, there are also tons of free indie games available online as well that you don't need to wait for a special giveaway because they're always free. And a lot of these games are really great.
Don't hold your breath on Garry giving away free copies of Rust. It's obvious that you want to actually play the game. Promising to remove it from your library after you're "done" review it, doesn't mean anything. You can unremove a removed game anyway. You might want to add it to your wishlist and wait for it to go on sale though because I wouldn't be surprised if it went on sale soon.
