PC game pads?
I have a computer connected to my big screen at home so I'm anxious to give this a try. I've never tried a computer game with a controller before so I'm honestly not sure if I'll care for it or not. Would anyone recommend a particular brand? Can I use a PS3 controller (since I already have those on my PS3 connected to the same TV) or should I get a dedicated PC gamepad?

If anyone knows of a good online guide for this I'd appreciate the help. Thanks!

If you have a Windows machine, Xbox360 pad works best, as far as I can see. The only reason is that developers get lazy and usually support the Xbox360 pad first. For example, the prompts in both Sleeping Dogs and Mars:Wars Logs do show real pad buttons like RT (Right Trigger) or RB (Right Button). A standard controller would only show generic numbers, if any.
However, you need to be aware that there are two version out of three that you should consider:
1. Wired pad (the one I got). Just Plug And Play on a Windows machine.
2. Wireless pad for PC with wireless adaptor. You only need one adaptor for up to four wireless pads. Might be hard to find, as Game, Gamestop and the like might not have those in stock.
Let me reiterate: without the adaptor, you cannot use a wireless pad. Rechargeable batteries are not included! Batteries died easily in the past - I do not know if MS got that fixed.
I have a wired pad myself, and it is showing the abuse of all the years of good service. I wouldn't be any happier.

Hi, Talana,
as you might know better, what is needed in order to use a PS3 controller? I know you need at least a Bluetooth receiver. USB cable is only used for charging and easy pairing on the PS3.

I'd like to know myself as obviously that's the cheapest option for me :)
You can use your ps3 controller with the usb cable if you use the program "Better ds3."
xbox controller is the best IMO

You can use a ps3 controller i have done so in the past before i got a wireless adaptor for my 360 controller. Go to this site and follow the steps....http://www.ehow.com/how_4809736_use-ps-controller-computer.html
Xbox 360 controler too, really a good pad!
Thanks for the good info!
xbox controller works great
For people looking for DS3 drivers, google "motioninjoy" xD
my xbox360 wired controller works with no problems to date...
As much as I hate to promote MS the Xbox360 pad is best for most games. Because of the numerous porting of games from consoles Devs have preset up controls to the Xbox360 pad. A lot of games are just plugin the controller and play.
I am with AkiraTea on this.
