Can my macbook air 2012 run left 4 dead 2? and still play with windows users?

If the game supports Macs and PCs then yes, it will run it and you'll be playing with other Mac and PC users without knowing what operating system they're necessarily running. Same goes with games that support Linux (like L4D2).

To see if your computer can run a game you can check the bottom of the store page where it says "system requirments" the minimum heading indicates what is needed to run the game competently (at acceptable frames per second without lag or crashing) whereas the reccomended tells you the specs to get the best possible experience. I looked up the specs of your macbook and also the needed ones of Left 4 Dead 2 and you seem to check out. Just to show you how it works out I will guide you through each line.

Mac system requirments


*OS: MacOS X 10.6.4 or higher (Snow Leopard Graphics Update required)

You will have to check this for yourself. (To check your mac's specs click the appple logo in the top right and then the "about this mac" option)

*Dual core intel processor 2.0GHZ or higher

The macbook air 2012 has either a 1.7 or 2.0ghz processor. If you have the latter it should work great, if you have the former im not sure.( you will have to check in the "about this mac thing again) The processor in the macbook air is probably newer than the one tested and also has a turbo core function that brings it up higher and if we look on the pc section it mentions processors far weaker than yours so even the lower may work.

*Video Card: ATI Radeon 2400 or higher / NVIDIA 8600M or higher / Intel HD Graphics 3000

You have an integrated intel graphics 4000 which is much better than the 3000


Finally you won't even know what operating system the others in the game are running. They can be running Windows, Mac, Linux and hopefully even more soon!
