Steam refund policy
The current refund policy of 14 days and 2 hours of playtime feels too limiting. Not everyone can quickly determine if a game is right for them, and sometimes it takes more time to realize it's not the experience they expected. The policy doesn't seem fair for those who might have played a game for a while, but then found that they simply don't enjoy it anymore, even months or years later. It's a big difference between playing for 10–20 hours and 50+ hours. It would be great if the policy allowed more flexibility so people who no longer play a game but haven't enjoyed it from the start could still get a refund and have the opportunity to invest in new games they’re more likely to enjoy. I hope this is something that can be reconsidered to give players a better chance to get their money's worth.

If you need 50 hours to decide if you like a game, then I am afraid there is no refund policy, that would be right for you.

I don't think the answer here is a change to refund policy, as much as I think it would be better for consumers to have the option to sell their license to play a game on a used market. I doubt that would ever happen. Refunding a game after month's and tens of hours sounds ludicrous. In no world does it make sense that a consumer can have a complete experience and then refund their money because they had a change of heart.
You can always move to Australia.

Your region may vary, but you may have additional consumer protections that allow you the right to repair, replacement, refund or remedy.

Valve or the Publisher in the event of a serious fault or breach of terms, may issue refunds outside those conditions. For example Hell Divers 2 PSN debacle, Cyberpunk 2077 failed launch.

Refund policies in every country do not cover "got bored playing the game years later."

Not even Australia covers that in their policies.

Of course, you still have a legitimate claim for a refund.

More in response to the 14 days or 2 hours tine limit, it doesn't apply to Australians.

I agree with this. I started Guild Wars 2 and have a level 3x character. Went ahead and bought the first and second expansion packs (which start at level 80) today, right after this I made a new character, and didn’t use the level 80 level-up item at all. My character is now level 11 or 12, and they give out a free mount for 10 in-game hours at lvl 10.

I haven’t started any expansion packs.

If I had bought from the official site, I would have benefited more. I planned to get a refund and stop playing on Steam and start over there.

Refund policies - Take your pick. Note: (***) same refund policy.

(1) (***) Steam - Within two weeks of purchase and with less than two hours of playtime.

(2) (***)Epic - Games and products are eligible for refund within 14 days of purchase. However, you must have less than 2 hours of runtime on record.

(3) (***) Ubisoft (UPDATED) - You can request a refund for a digital PC game within 14 days of your purchase, as long as the game has not been played for more than two hours.

Previously it was: (You can request a refund for a digital order within 14 days of your purchase, as long as the content has not been launched).

(4) EA Play - Whichever comes first.

a) Within 24 hours after you first launch the game.

b) Within 14 days from the day you bought it, if you have not launched the game.

c) Within 14 days from the release date if you pre-ordered the game, if you haven't launched it yet.

(5) Blizzard - The game is newly purchased within the last 3 days. You haven't started the game; if the game has been played at all it won't qualify for a refund.

(6) GOG - starting now, you can get a full refund up to 30 days after purchasing a product, even if you downloaded, launched, and played it. That's it. #

# (Open to abuse and they monitor for abuse and reserve the right to refuse a refund as do all PC stores). https://ibb.co/ZzXPMwv

Even GOG the people's champion have set criteria for refunds.

How often can I refund my games? Is there some sort of limit?

We trust that you're making informed purchasing decisions and will use this updated voluntary Refund Policy only if something doesn't work as you expected.

We reserve the right to refuse refunds, or only offer Wallet Funds conversions, in individual cases.

Please respect all the time and hard work put into making the games you play and remember that refunds are not reviews. If you finished the game and didn't like it, please consider sharing your opinion instead.

Also, please don't take advantage of our trust by asking for an unreasonable amount of games to be refunded. Don't be that person. No one likes that person.
