Adding Friends. Left 4 Dead

How do I add a friend so we can play together. how do I create a lobby so we can play together.
Sorry but i have never done any of this. I have always played alone. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

lol none of you answered the question , more over how do you expect him to add you if he said he doesn't know how to add people XD ....wow , so when you first open steam at the bottom right side theres a little icon on the bottom right side that says friends and chat , click that ,a box will open , near the top of said box it will says friends , to the right of that theres an option called " incoming friend requests " its two human icons " buddy icons " and then next to that another option called " add a friend " you can search / add people that way , if you click the second option you will see a few options on the left , one of them is " recently played with " here you will find people from recent games .

now i would imagine you figured that out by now but in the event you didnt or others are wondering well here ya go .
