Game stuck in Updating/Validating/Patching loop

Downloading an update for NMS, but it keeps on pausing the update, validating the files, continuing the update, validating files over and over again until it gets to the patching phase. Once it gets to the patching phase, it reaches 99% and then keeps getting into a patching/validating loop and not making any progress.

I've restarted steam, restarted my PC, made sure I have enough space on the drive, verified the game cache, cleared the downloads folder in steam, repaired steam library folders, cleared the download cache. Nothing seems to be working.

try working together to assist each other, but it seems they too are looking for assistance. Again this pear-to-pear, Steam support will not and has not that I ever saw come here to assist anyone. I am unable to assist because I have not had the issue you are having, and why I suggest you contact Steam support.

I actually forgot, but I sent a steam help request to steam support 2 days ago. Still haven't heard back.

Also, If it's any help, this started a couple months ago when I powerwashed my computer. Part of this is also happening to my brother's computer, but for him it's just the no connection thing.

At this point, there is not much to do but save what you can, save up some funds get a new system, and don't powerwash it... Just use a reusable air duster for computer use.

I got a reply from Steam Support! The stuff they recommended didn't help, but I sent them my steam dumps and they said they'd get back to me. Wish me luck

Ok, I've just been able to install the update. Here's what I did:

1. Open the folder where steam is installed

2. Open the "logs" folder

3. Open the content_log.txt file

4. Search for "failed". I found a entry that said
"Failed updating depot 275851 while reading chunk "e8603a78c0d8887c8e729037abcb1c99cf28be0f" (Device Corrupt) (Corrupt game files) "F:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\No Man's Sky\GAMEDATA\PCBANKS\NMSARC.TexBiomesSCORCHED.pak"

5. Open the file location listed in your failed entry and delete the listed file.

6. Try updating again.

Im having the same issue. Ive tried deleting the files like the tips say and it doesnt help. Im really confused what is going on. If anybody figures out the solution please let me know.

I seem to have found a temporary solution.
Im not tech savvy by any means, but this is just what I found that worked for me.

Some people on this post seemed to have found a solution that worked for me as well:

1. I started off by backing up my steamapps and userdata folder in order to not have to reinstall all games again, and userdata for cloud and workshop backups.
   
   
2. I then uninstalled steam and downloaded and installed the app all over again. It seemed to install all updates like its supposed to at launch. then I got an error message that steam client webhelper had stopped working, and that I could relaunch the steam app with Browser Sandboxing Disabled, I chose this option. steam could now launch.
   
   
3. Put the steamapps and userdata folder back into your steam folder. you will have to click to install every game again, it wont go through the whole installation process though, it will only verify the files and be done which will save you a lot of time if you did step one.

From what I understand the issue seems to be caused by steam webhelper in some way.

Okay, that is the first I have heard of that term and computers, and I have built my share of computers. But yes, that made me step back and bite my tongue with a big smile.
I have seen and heard of some crazy things, Linus Tech Tips once actually washed keyboards in a washing machine.

That is another reason why I put games and many programs like editors on a second or third drive away from the C drive. Even OBS I have set up as a portable everything is saved in it's own file and I have it on a removable nvme.
