Can you start games before it's fully finished downloading?
Not sure if i remember that being a thing or not.

Thats not a thing, you have to wait until it's finished 100%. I believe Sony are the only ones that does that with the playstation 4.

It may have been Uplay i was thinking of. I remember launching a game on PC with 80% downloaded or something. Would be a nice feature to add to Steam

They let you do that on orgin but you cant play online only campaign.

If it has a single player campaign, it lets you play the levels already installed while the rest of the game downloads. Wouldn't work with some games but i played most of BF1's campaign before the game had fully downloaded. It's great if you're stuck with a crappy internet speed

Steam actually tried it with MKX, but it didn't go well and I don't think they ever tried again.

I think Battlenet does it too with some games. I think with Starcraft 2 it had actually 3 stages, it downloaded the low res assets first to become "playable" and then it proceeded to download until it reached "optimal" which I think was probably high res assets/audio for the early game campaign, and then it would download until finished.

you can on xbox game pass for pc with the newer games only. maybe steam will jump on board soon
