Wasn't cheating. I was banned because i thought i'd download some hide and seek/prophunt mods for mw2, and i was banned for it. yeah, private lobbies too. apparently you get banned for it.

I'm guessing you wonder why they want a comment with an invite? It's an anti-bot measure. Lots of us get 20+ invites from hijack bots daily, if they don't bother to leave a comment then we block them. Nice and easy :P

Who signs profiles? Do you mean the +rep stuff? That's a bit useless but it's just something some people do and their business. If you mean people who use profile comments sections like a guestbook and leave emoticons and text emotes and messages to spread around and things, that's just something they like doing and their prerogative. Usually it gives a sense of community that is liked more than often than not. If you don't like it you don't need to do it and if they leave something on your profile you dislike you can delete it and also change the accessibility of the comments section via options if you'd like. All in all I think it is called socialising... :P If by any chance you're upset about people asking for a comment when you send them an invite like ♥♥♥♥♥ Wheeler says, I think it is common sense to leave some sort of message in some manner if you're going to add a friend in most cases.

Yep, if you're talking about the +rep stuff. That's not signing really. Some people who trade on Steam seem to think written text that can be deleted and written by any Steam user can count as some sort of flimsy reputation point system when it can't even do that even. Scammers use it too. I just try and steer clear of all profiles that have any sort of +rep commenting going on. It's unfortunate when some naive person thinks it means something and gets scammed but there is always going to be some variation of it from Steam trading. Might as well just ignore it if you can. :P

I haven't actually experienced any of those or come across them but that kind of thing usually happens with anything that has the potential to be turned into a guestbook. There is enormous diversity among Steam users so there are going to be different cultures where that sort of thing may be trending now or frankly and more logically put, a lot of those people are probably pretty young and into social media etc where making a mark on each others pages, if given the option is fun to them. If it appears on your profile and you don't like it, delete it. If they ask you why you deleted it just be respectfully honest and you won't have any problems. Everyone is different. What may seem silly to you can easily be fun or have significance to other people. That being said, your profile is yours to do as you please within the community regulations so you're free to delete comments and tell people not to leave random messages like that. :)
