Early access games

it feels like almost more and more games being released on steam are early access and not finished games. these games sit in my library for years. some will never be finished like "under the mountain" which was 24 bucks, where the dev. gave up and said it wont be finished, so its my loss. wish there was a more clear timeline for games in early access that give specific release dates and not just years. and also give refunds to when games are left unfinished.

Early Access games are more of an investment for a chance of having more fun with the game, in the future.
Some investments don't always work out.

Note: Games in Early Access are not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development

Searched for "under the mountain" and didn't find it but found a couple others with a similar name.

i do read the early access info for each game, but i fell when i buy these games then play them and then i have to wait an unspecified amount of time "Years" to have new game play. do you ever get excited to see a game you love coming to market but for the next 2 to seven years you'll be able to play the full game. usually by then you tired of it. my point was when i go to my steam store these days, it feels more like an early access store for free game testers.

Early Access games have a very clear warning sign as to what it is:

Get instant access and start playing; get involved with this game as it DEVELOPS.

This Early Access game is NOT COMPLETE and MAY OR MAY NOT CHANGE FURTHER. If YOU are not excited to play this game in its CURRENT STATE, then YOU should WAIT to see IF the game progresses further in DEVELOPMENT.

So the question remains - is waiting a problem?


Secondly purchasing is voluntarily not mandatory and in order to acquire a game you do the following 7 steps.

1) Go to the store page.

2) Added the game to your cart.

3) Viewed your cart.

4) Continued to payment.

5) Entered the security code if you are using a card.

6) Ticked the Steam Subscriber Agreement box.

7) Clicked confirm.


When you ticked the Steam Subscriber Agreement box and clicked confirm you agreed to the refund policy which is WITHIN 2 weeks of purchase AND with LESS than 2 hours playtime.
