Installing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on Steam

I'm having a lotta trouble installing COD MW3.

1. No matter what I do, Steam always ignores the MW3 disc in my DVD-ROM drive and proceeds to download the entire 16GB+ from the Steam database.

2. Steam states I need 43212 megabytes (43GB) of free disk space to install the game.

3. As mentioned, Steam ques up 3 items on my download list: Modern Warfare 3, Modern Warfare 3 - Multiplayer, Modern Warfare 3 - Dedicated Server - while the actual installation progress from the disc is just stuck at zero.

I beg, can I please get some assistance with this?

Try this, look in the manual and type in the CD For the game. Let me know if it helps

If you were referring to the CD key, its in - the game is already activated and associated with my account.

Today I faced the precisely same issue.. From other forums I tried something n it workd fr me..
Windows 7 and Vista Troubleshooting

If you are running in Windows XP, take the following steps:
1) Exit Steam.
2) Go to the "Start" menu, select "Run", type "regedit" and click "OK".
3) Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\VALVE
4) Right click and select "Permissions"
5) Check the "Allow" boxes for "Admin" and "System" for both "Full control" and "Read".

If you still have difficulty, you may also need to manually run secondary installers required by this game.

Exit Steam entirely.
Browse to your Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 installation folder (Usually C:\Program files\Steam\Steamapps\common\call of duty modern warfare 3\)
Run the following installers:

...\Steamapps\common\call of duty modern warfare 3\redist\directx\dxsetup.exe
...\Steamapps\common\call of duty modern warfare 3\vcredist_x86.exe

Reboot your computer and test the issue again.

Using Steam launch options to install retail games from disc
Log in to Steam and click on Library.
Right-click on the game, select Delete local content, and confirm.
Insert the first disc into your computer.
Close Steam (Steam > Exit).
Press Windows Key + R to open Run
In the Run window type:
"C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -install D:\mw3
Replace E: with the CD/DVD drive you are installing from if is not correct.
Replace C:\Program Files\Steam if your Steam installation is not in the default location.
Press OK. Steam will launch and ask you to sign in if you do not have your password saved.
Your installation should continue from the disc.
