Wow. Sophie's Choice, this one.
I think it would be easiest to answer "What is your favorite [genre] game of all time?"
At this point, I think it may be Just Cause 2. I don't know why, precisely, but that's a game I can just get pointlessly lost in and never get bored.
Minecraft also comes to mind.
As well as the entire Elder Scrolls series (excluding Battlespire and Red Guard... those were garbage!)
Mass Effect series.
Halo series. (ducks rocks flung by Console-Haters)
There's a ton of good games out there, and to pick a "favorite of all time" is really just asking "what's your favorite AT THIS TIME?" Last week, I would have answered X-COM or possibly Civilization. The week before that, Diablo 2 or 3. The week before that, The Witcher series. Basically, whatever I am playing, or whatever game I like more than what I am currently playing, but is most like it, is my favorite in the moment.

true soo true ... um... id have to say games like dota 2 and leauge of legends really get me going latley also huge fan of consoles but mostly pc gamer ima have to go old school and say some of my tops are faxanadu, blaster master, on da good ol nes, conkers bad fur day on n64 and the remake on xbox oh avp exctinction friggin love that game rts with aliens and preds ??? hecks yea!!

Now that you mention it... AvP Gold, AvP II, and the new AvP are ALL pretty awesome games :) Thanks for reminding me. I was just playing the newer AvP the other night, too. While the Marine campaigns are delightfully tense, and the Predator is suitably bad-ass... there's just nothing quite like the experience of skulking around the ceiling in the shadows and delivering Death From Above as an Alien!

Also: BLASTER MASTER! This game gave me more than a few sleepless nights in grade school, both from staying up too late playing it, and from the resultant dreams. I tried the newer games on PS, and was sadly disappointed.

Final Note: Speaking of PS... one of my true favorites, and a legend in the world of games... Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. I've probably bought six different versions of that game, and I still enjoy playing it!
