NO SUCH THING AS A BOOMER SHOOTER
Baby boomers, or boomers for short, were born in the 1940's, were adults in the 1970's, they had Pong, that's it. 1990's games are not boomers games. Boomers are 70 years old to 80+ years old today.

Steam even has a category for this wildly incorrect fallacy genre.

1990's are still Millennials, referring to the millennium (a passing of a thousand years, AKA: the year 2000)

Screaming loudly doesn't make something into a fact. There is, by definition, no such thing as a boomer shooter. It really annoys sensible people how deliberately and confidently wrong it is to call anything from the 90's a boomer product. People who were adults in the 1990's are not boomers. Middle aged people today are Millennials (Who children incorrectly call boomers).

OP seems to be trying to get technical over a name of an era of FPS games

That era was the beginning of FPS games mainstream popularity

"Boomer" is used as slang for old, those games are old for FPS standards as they are some of the oldest in the mainstream FPS genre

Games age faster than people

Boomer is not slang for old. It refers to baby boomers.
It was circulated a lot in the last decade most often to reference the differences in the economy, in which baby boomers had a lot of prosperity. This was adopted incorrectly by today's children to mean middle aged.

The era of FPS you are referring to is the 1990's. A good 50 years after boomers were born.

There is a difference between semantics (technicality) and being just plain wrong.

It's not meant to be literal. Insofar as if you are old enough to remember Quake 3, you might as well be 100 to these Gen Z Roblox children. Hence 'boomer shooter'. See also: "ok boomer".

You are just proving my point here.
It's not meant to be literal? This isn't a word with a literal and metaphorical meaning.
It has one meaning. People born between the 1940's and 1950's.

You can't just incorrectly describe something and say "it's not meant to be literal" that's called being illiterate.

If you can't conceptualize something this mundane I can't help you. Not that you'd care, you just want to needle for the sake of needling.
Anyway, I recommend you study the following:

Edit: Oh, I just saw your profile. I knew what you were doing, but I didn't realize it's your raison d'etre.

I think we both know that I understand this very simple concept. You misunderstand, it's not excitement of the thing that concerns me it's the validity.

If someone calls you a Nazi or a Fascist because they have a difference of opinion, turns around and says "It's not literal" when asked to explain their position, this makes it a valid use of the title according to your logic.

I want people to use boomer correctly.
I haven't seen your profile and I don't care to, by the way.
So whatever your projections about my profile, please know that it has been the unchanged for years. My existence does not revolve around my steam profile, how silly.

technically they're gen-x shooters really - doom / quake / the build engine etc all came out in the 90s - boomers too old, millennials too young.
