Need help with getting Creation Kit for Fallout 4 to launch
Every time I try launching Creation Kit it does nothing (i.e. it won't launch, no error message). I own Fallout 4 (G.O.T.Y.) via Microsoft Store; fully updated as of this post. Both game and CKit are on same drive (D:). Tried adding Fallout 4 to Steam launcher via "Add Non-Steam Games". Did nothing. When I tried opening CreationKit.exe directly (i.e. from directory and not from the Steam App), I get 3 error messages for missing .dll files. These files are "steam_api64.dll", "GFSDK_SSAO_D3D11.win64.dll" and "GFSDK_GodraysLib.x64.dll". I can find the 2 "GFSDK" files in the Fallout directory but the api file is no where to be found. I have thought to just try downloading a cracked Tor copy of Fallout and CK and pulling needed files in CK directory but not sure if it will work and would rather avoid that if possible. Not sure how to get CK to direct to these files if I can't even open CK. And lastly, not even sure this is the issue. Also, yes I have tried reinstalling. That was the first thing I did. I have a feeling it's going to be something like Steam or CK not directing to .dll's or games .exe if they are not in C: drive. I'd try installing to C: but no disk space. Any help please?

FYI, I am old school tech savvy (i.e. Bethesda games modder back in the early 2010's and some C+/C++ programing way back when). I kinda dropped out of tech for the last 10 years. I am new to Windows 10, which is what I'm using now, and honesty have tried to avoid steam and cloud gaming. Any Fallout modders or ppl more "modern" tech savvy that I got any suggestions? I'm up for ideas.

I would ask this in the fallout 4 forums. This is the new to steam forums so you won’t get answers from here

If you have ran fallout 4 at least once so the files telling other programs where it is installed then you may need to do the following.

verify the creation kit using the Bethesda launcher option from the creation kit page.

If that does not work then remove and reinstall the creation kit and make sure it goes into the correct folder as per its instructions that can be found somewhere on its page.

https://www.creationkit.com/fallout4/index.php?title=Main_Page making

sometimes especially if we installed fallout 4 into a non default directory it will install it incorrectly.

@Sharkster_00: Thx I'll try there.

@Retro gamer: Game was ran and played before DL'ing CK. Registry should be good, though I thought to maybe go through it anyways.

As for the "Bethesda Launcher", the old one off their site no longer works and is obsolete. The launcher that installed with the game doesn't seem to have that option. And the CK won't open so getting into it's options and settings is a bit difficult.

The link you recommended is one I've tried. It says its down for "maintenance" but it's been down for days. I think it is also obsolete but maybe they just have REALLY slow techs. LOL I've uninstalled, wiped all Fallout registry entries and reinstalled twice. No luck.

Thx for the input though.
