Complete a set of trading cards and craft them into a game badge

how does one go about doing this??? Im new to steam and don't understand.

Play the game you get 3 cards max, buy something for like 5 bucks on it get another 3 random cards after some time

This is wrong.

The game will drop half the cards you can get for the badge. So if the badge has 6 cards it will drop 3 cards while playing the game. You can buy the cards on the market or trade others for the rest them. You can't get extra drops once you received half the cards.

You can also create booster packs from gems or get lucky and get a booster drop if eligible.

The only time you have to spend money is in free games that don't drop cards and last I knew it was around $9 per card drop.
