That depends on your taste for games. A lot of the free games here on Steam are MMORPG's and other types of magical fantasy games. If that's your thing, there are plenty of choices. Otherwise, there's not too many. My favorite free game for a long time was Unturned. It was really about the only free game I ever played a lot of. There were a few others, but that was mostly it. Would you like me to take a look?

Depends what your taste in games is. Warframe and Team Fortress 2 would be my 2 recommendations off the bat.

Team Fortress 2 is a really good free to play FPS

I'd recommend only playing on community
servers though, so you don't get cheaters

#assault cube (its free and open source,no adverts,multi platform, single or multiplayer etc...youll have to get it off the official site,but you can add it to your steam library by going to games> add a non steam game to my library).

#quake II RTX (grab it on steam,if youve got a fairly decent geforce RTX gpu,i had a laptop version of the 2060 and after an update it stopped running on that one ,but ive now got a beefy gaming laptop with a 4080 and 12GB of dedi vRAM,it looks amazing for an ageing game).
