Issue Running Games
Hello! I am new to PC gaming and just purchased a new Lenovo laptop. I downloaded steam and some games, and everything seemed fine. However, after downloading games, every single one of them has steam ask for permission to make changes to my device. For most, if I select no, it runs the game normally. For others, it doesn’t run at all and after loading for a few seconds just reverts back to the green play button. For all of the games I have downloaded, if I select yes, it gets stuck saying “Launching - Running install script (Microsoft VC Redistributable). It will stay in this state for at least an hour, I stopped it trying after that, but I imagine it’s forever. Does anyone have any advice on solving this issue?
I am using Windows 11 and both windows and steam are fully updated to my knowledge however I distinctly remember steam always updating when booted up on older laptops and that is not happening now if that is related. The games that work if I don’t allow changes are 7 days, The Binding of Isaac, Counter-Strike 2, Don’t Starve, Skyrim and Lethal Company. The games that won’t run if I don’t allow changes are Soma and RPG Maker MV. Every one of them will not launch if I allow changes. Thank you to anyone that responds and I can provide more information if requested.

You have to allow it to make changes.
Otherwise the game files cannot work right.
You have nothing to worry about, Steam will not allow games to have malware in them be sold on the store.

I appreciate it! Unfortunately I know that I should be allowing changes, but when I do it never actually launches the game. It gets stuck on that launching - running install files (Microsoft VC Redistributables) and never actually launches.
