Steam will stop running on windows 7
I don't want Windows 10, tried it on a laptop & hate it. I paid for games via Steam & should not be prevented from using them! OK you could block new purchases after Jan1st 2024, but you don't have the right legally to block access to games I've already paid for!!!

the bootlicking mentality on a lot of these posts is truly insane to me. There will undeniably be some people who, for whatever reason, are unable to update their OS and will lose access to games that they've paid for and that have had no trouble running on their systems prior. To defend this action because it's not technically illegal is unconscionably stupid.

If you don't like windows 10 you can use Linux.
Steam simply is a software reseller.!
It has a copy protection mechanism and many software makers use it as it is.
So if a dealer sells to you for example software made for windows 7 and suddenly
says, that this will no longer work with windows 7, i truly think at least he has to pay back the
money you have spent for it.
If it really is true that a softwaredealer can behave like this and there is no jurisdiction which says NO, the only way to stop these acts is to loudly and everlasting tell all people never buy any software from this particular dealer - WARN THEM.

i've played ffxiv since it came out just fine on win7, then the latest xpac made it mandatory to get win10. It doesn't matter if it's steam, an mmo or other software, you either upgrade with the rest or get left behind. The world will not wait for you because you're whining

Unless you agreed to terms that say otherwise. Which you did.

You'll just have to warn people that if they're the sort who isn't going to upgrade their systems every 10-15 years that PC gaming isn't for them. I mean you'll look like a lunatic, and I'm sure some boomers or something will agree with you. But the other 99% of users are just gonna shrug at how silly the argument is.

Absolutely true. Console users seem to get an upgrade every few years so why shouldn't PC gamers? The way games are created now you're going to need an upgraded PC to run them, which includes an upgraded OS.

Change is inevitable. Go with the flow or drown. It's your choice.

The real lunatics are idiots who think that I don't have a right to play older games I have just because I don't want to upgrade to Win 10.

I can easily power up nds, ps2, ps3 and launch any game I have for these consoles even now at any moment I wish, so I really do understand your point.

If I play monstly old games, why I need to upgrade my consoles to new ones? Same for PC.

Exactly, not sure what's so hard to understand about that.
Got simple solution to that, if valve wants war let's give it to them. Let's all just stop using steam, or rather let us indulge ourselves with the proposition steam is offering. Let's all just pirate games as of now. Since by the looks of it that's what Steam/Valve wants of us, To start pirating games.

Now try connecting one to the internet.

Nothing is stopping you doing the same with Steam, stay on 7, put Steam in offline mode and enjoy your library for life.
