I'm still farming 3,300 Wither Skeleton skulls for my massive perimeter. Day 3 of mindless sweeping sword attacks.
It will never stop running on Java.
From what I recall, there is a Windows 10 Edition that does not require Java. They seem to differentiate between Java Minecraft and the Windows 10 Edition. That and now they have forced all players to migrate to Microsoft accounts, I wouldn't be surprised if the Windows 10 Edition becomes more in use.
They've had Bedrock (Windows) Edition for years. The 2 versions are slowly getting to the point of update parity but they still differ in some noticeable ways.
They're all under one launcher now, yes but they are still separate versions of the game.
Bedrock and Pocket Editions are by far the most played especially due to Realms being more active on Bedrock but Java is the main version that Mojang will always support.
