Gaming on laptop?
I have never touched a laptop before in my life but I am getting one for college and I am wondering is it way more difficult to game on laptops than on a pc?

gaming laptop are good for gaming, but a gaming pc is far superior in every way and cheaper.

There are very good laptops right now, but its better a desktop pc.
But, a laptop its a good choice too, a very handy choice if you need to move another place.

I do have a 3 or 4 year old laptop... Don't get one that is for gaming, getting something not super cheap that will last 2 or 3 years =P If you wanna play games buy a desk top one =P

Depends on the laptop specs.

If you're going to game on it, my only recommendation is to use an actual computer mouse and NOT the touchpad.

I'm the other way around. I do almost all gaming on my laptop. How much money do you want to spend? If you are willing to spend at least $750 and need a GTX 960M, please see this awesome review of your options:

You'll spend a fortune on it and it will never be even close to as powerful as even a midrange desktop. I went the gaming laptop route a few years ago too and while it came in handy, I could have spent the same amount of money and built a killer rig PLUS got a smaller, more portable laptop.

yes, laptops can be good , but remember you cant always upgrade your cpu / gpu / ram .
but i halso heard where u can add a desktop graphics card with an laptop addon . but these laptops are over 3000 bucks , my 360 dollar budget pc can handle more than a 800 dollar laptop , reason why its too expinsive is because is gaming with a portable device

Agree, there are some really powerful gaming laptops out there however it comes down to how much you want to spend.

I game mainly on a laptop and have two 980m cards with 32 gb of ram and an i7-6820hk. Sure it's a bit bigger than your average laptop but it gets the job done, I can play almost any game possible without a single issue and it's portable which for me is important.

Comes down to not only what you want but what you need.

So what about when its the year 2025? Your laptop would be usless becaude its not capable to upgrade from time to time , just like the titan X , it costed a bunch untill the new 1080 from nvidia comes out , claiming to be better than the titan X and it cost less.

I play all my Steam games on laptop, it's actually pretty good. Don't expect to play games like new DOOM or the Division on it, but if it's a newer laptop, you should be able run a bunch of big games, for example Tomb Raider 2013.

Just make sure you get a decent laptop and get a flash drive. You'll want to save all your class work on the flash drive, in case your laptop dies, for example, or you accidentally delete something.
