Do I lose game saves/progress if I uninstall it?

I want to uninstall some games, e.g wolfenstein the new order as its taking up lots of space. I completed the game but if I uninstall it/other completed games, will I lose the comletion progress etc?

In some games you will, but in most games you won't.

It is very much hit or miss. This isn't something Steam controls. It's decided by the developer. A few ask if you want to keep you game saves. Most don't. Game developers follow no rhyme or reason when deleting game saves.

The safest course is to hunt down where each game puts game saves and copy those files to somewhere else.

Steam has a Cloud feature. But as Gus Tarbal mentioned for the locally stored saves, for the cloud it's up to the gameDEVs as well to implement the feature. Besides, you need to have cloud saves enabled in your settings. On the Store pages in the right sidebar, you can see if a game uses Cloudsaves.

It depends on the game.. In COD (MW2, BO2 etc..) for example the game get's synced per steam cloud (i think.) But in some other games (mostly the older ones I think) the game settings and the progress is saved in folders, on your system. (sorry for my bad english.)
