long needed tutorial for steam

i have been playing on steam for a very long time but i realized that i have no idea what steam is, how to check for updates and where do i go to check on all the little things that pop up in the bottom couner of the screan and other things that that steam provides. please advize. ps please dont asume i know what im doing because i know i am sure that im not my dad deals with all the technical things not me.

So you're using your dad's account?


Everything can be found in your Library tab located at the top of the screen.
Your games should mostly auto update themselves.

what i mean is that my dad fixes the computer when it lags and stuff im the one playing it he dosent even know what RPG means.

And then you could search all the guides these guys (they worked together on many of them) created for specific subjects. Note, although most of these guides state they are for Dota, CSGO or TF2, a lot of them actually are general guides to the use and habbits of/on Steam.
