What does one need emoticons for?

I was just wondering what is the motivation for crafiting emoticons other than posting in forums?

Does it have any other implementation othat than that?

You don't necessarily craft the emoteicons, they're random shall we call them "bonuses" crafting badges which is something you make in order to gain xp for your profile

You need to type 1 lettersign (blank space will do) for the smily face to show up underneath your post, in between the buttons "Formatting Help" and "Post Comment". That'll give you access to 6 standard emojies. , , , , and .

If you want more, like , , , ,
You need to earn them with crafting badges from your trading cards, trade them with friends or buy them at the Community Market.
Some special ones can be earned by participating in a Holiday Sales Event (no need to buy games), trade them with friends or buy them at the Community Market.

If you don't own a given emoticon, copy/pasting from some-one else does not work.

LOL, Well, it's debatable if Ppl who can explain complete concepts with just 1 symbol are less developed then Ppl who need a lot of words and still leave room for misinterpretation.
