New to Steam, what the heck is that damn buzzer noise?
I can't play anything anymore because there is a stupid buzzer/alarm that starts going off. What is this and how to make it stop. About to request a refund on all my games...

Well, I've never heard of that before, and I highly doubt it's related to steam.

Did you check all applications running for sources of audio?

Yes, nothing was playing and when I first start a game (H1Z1 or Witcher 3) they are fine for a minute or two. Then a alarm. Since I have seen this happen with multiple games, it really can't be a specific game. I thought maybe it was a licensing thing but I just purchased Witcher 3 so it is perfectly legal. I also only have ever played on my one computer.... I am out of ideas so I thought I would turn to the forums...

This is honestly one of the stranger scenarios I have seen...hm. Well unfortunately I have no answers for you, but you can try the Technical Support forum (or whatever it's called, there's a forum for hardware/software problems here).

Sorry I couldn't help more.

That's ok. I even tried uninstalling steam (which uninstalled all my games) and rebooted, then re-installed steam and H1Z1. It still does it. I tried muting the game audio and it still made that alarm noise. I am at a loss. It makes the games unplayable because you will go insane after 5 min of that noise....

I think I figured it out sort of...I tried closing down everything I possibly could and the noise went away. But it will drive me crazy if I can't figure out which app was causing the problem....I will let everyone know when I figure it out...

Its not Steam related. Its hardware of your PC. Playing games is a task requiring very high performance. If your computer is not sufficient the hardware will be pushed to max and by some it causes issues leading to various noises - coil whine, extreme fan speeds, motherboard beeping, power supply noises.

You are correct. It was a tempurature alarm. Thanks.
