Can I play the same game on two devices?
I have just downloaded a game onto my laptop which is running ok but will run better on my pc. The pc has not been in use for 6 months and in my sons bedroom but me and my wife have discussed moving it in the lounge as the youngers ones will need it for school soon.
If I install steam onto the pc can I then play the same game which is dowloaded on the laptop?
Many thanks

Can (download, install &) play games from your library on any (simular OS-type) computer you log in on.
However, a given library can be in use from 1 device at a time. In other words, you can be logged in via Steam Client on 2 (any number) computers and at the same time from 2 or more browsers on the very same computers. But only on 1 log-in you can play a game.

You may want to take a look at
"In-Home Streaming"
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=3629-RIAV-1617
Allowing to play a game on the better PC via the laptop ;
and
"Steam Family View"
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=5149-EOPC-9918
allowing family members to share their libraries from Steam account to Steam acc..
I have the same question. Steam with FSX are installed on my desktop PC. I also want to install it on my notebook.(laptop). If I log-in to my steam account on the notebook, what menu would I go to to find the download and install? Thank You

Payed games (incl. F2P games where items/DLC is bought from the publisher) will always be visible in your library, be it greyed out when not installed
(or greyed out when Steam can not find it, happens sometimes when installed on a non-default location like external drive).

Free to play games where nothing is payed will not be vissible in your library when not installed but any Store page has the Download button. If you don't know the exact name of a F2P game, you can find it via
(right top corner) {your login nick} -> (dropdown menu) Account Details -> (top pane) Store & Purchase History -> View Licences and product key activations.
Fantastic guys, thanks for the help.
I have just tried to do the above and am getting the msg "game not available on current platform"
Why is this and what can I do?
Many thanks this is driving me up the wall as I really want to play the game!
not at the same time
I would think. You got it on a windows pc and then trying it on a iPad or some other device that they have not written code for.
Old thread.
There's outdated info here (Family View), while Steam also has upped our options: Remote Play Together, Family Sharing. Not to forget that Streaming could've been mentioned above.
