Why are there so many people still playing old games?

I am wondering why there are so many people on PC that still play old ♥♥♥ games. I like to play CoD4 Remastered, which is old, but they just brought it back. Anyways, its a pretty good game. However, not many people play it. In fact, so many people DONT play it, that often times we struggle to even get a full lobby, and when we do, its always the same few people in the lobby. Which sucks. Because when I look at the amount of people who have played other games on steam today, it is crazy. Counter Strike GO had almost 500k. A bunch of other games dont struggle to get crazy amounts of players and its surprising honestly. I downloaded Counter Strike to see what I was missing. I used to play it back in the day in the early 2000's but wanted to see whats so great about it still. Nothing. Its basically the same game. I dont understand why 500k people still play this ♥♥♥♥. The graphics ♥♥♥♥. Its so far from realistic. I thought maybe it was do to competitiveness because you hear about people being nasty at counter strike but thats not the case. Today was my first time playing in years and I'm probably qualified to say I'm already the best CS:GO player in the world. The people ♥♥♥♥. So easy. Came in first every round. Its like what the ♥♥♥♥. Why are you still playing this game? It sucks. Lets be honest. There are SO many nicer, newer games. WHY ARE SO MANY PEOPLE PLAYING THIS OLD ♥♥♥♥. YET I CANT EVEN GET A FULL SERVER IN A MUCH NEWER NICER GAME?

What am I missing here guys?

P.S. Its not just counterstrike. So many of the games on the top 100 played steam games ♥♥♥♥. Like hell, there is some truck driving game that had more people playing it than CoD. YOU DONT EVEN DO ANYTHING. YOU JUST DRIVE A ♥♥♥♥ING TRUCK AROUND. WHAT THE ♥♥♥♥?

There are more then enough eSport players, we also have some Youtubers who also probably have enough money for CoD, there are also plenty of people who do actually enjoy playing this game and are not just "kids".

You act like because a game is old you're not supposed to touch it. Why do people watch old movies, tv shows, or even read old books? It's interesting, they find it fun. I've never worried about a games graphics. If the games fun to play, I'll play it regardless what the graphics look like. I play retro, old, and new games. Gaming is gaming. Regardless what the games on, and how old the game is.
