FunFact: That's one of the main reasons why A.H.s Plan to make Germania out of Berlin has failed. The ground is just too weak to build tons of granite and concrete on it. Like most parts of the flatlands in germany was or are still intact swamps which are mostly nature reserves now.

And i guess most of us dont even know that

Wasn't Berlin called that because it meant “swamp town” or something like that in Polabian? (Polabian is a West Slavic language, somewhat similar to Polish; it's called Polabisch in German.)

I suspected that myself, though I wasnt sure of the language roots specifically.

"Chicago" is similarly name, basically meaning "stinky swamp", some people might argue still describes the city today.

Same here. If you use Google search then it's probably based on popularity, reddit is popular, so their search results are found at the top.

Back to topic, i never thought about that and heard it here for the first time.

The only thing i hope for is that the swamp doesn't come back, Corona is enough.
