PS3 Controller for Mac 10.8.x

I have a regular PS3 controller (SixAxis Dualshock 3) and am having trouble hooking it up (wired or Bluetooth) to my iMac. So far, all I can do is jump (in Portal 2) by pressing the 'select' button. :) Any tips? Thanks.

Having the same issue, I find it hard to believe that a 3rd party application is necessary since the controller works in BigPicture.

under Steam > Config > config.vdf I am able to see the mappings i did, even with the name i gave the controller settings. Isn't there a way to import those mappings to a .cfg file that portal and other games can open?

as co.bra say's valve need's to make an steamworks sdk for controllers - so they can work cross platform - and then force developpers to implement It in their games to get the "controller compatible badge"

It works fine and everything while using the ps3 controller, but one thing gets annoying is when start playing a game while using your controller, the screen goes to screen saver mode after several minutes of playing. I have to constantly swipe the touch pad to get out of it, anyone know a way around it? PLEASE HELP

Native support for Dualshock PLEASE. Pretty please. With sugar on top. Perhaps Steam OS is planning to address this?

Yes please. Especially with Steam Machines around the corner, this is important for the transition. People playing with DualShock on Mac are key to a huge chunk of data on controllers with Steam games.

go to your system preferances, and under energy saver you should be able to fix this

I had this same problem and know how to fix it so please read. You dont need to download anything, its easy, and it works, if the game has controller support.

1. Ok so the first step is to get ur ps3 controller and charging cord.

2. Turn on your computer's bluetooth

3. Plug the charging cord into the ps3 controller, and one of your computer's usb ports for three seconds.

4. Unplug the controller

5. Connect to the controller in your computer's bluetooth

6. Plug the charging cord back into your computer

6. Launch steam big picture

7. enjoy your controller

I dont think the dualshock works with cs:go, even in big picture mode. however, i keep having glitches anyway, so it might just be me.

I just plugged mine into the computer and set up the controls in the option menu, it works fine for me.

the steam options? when I click those and it says "press key for " whatever it says, nothing happens when i press the key.

By reading the topic, I realize that I've never thought to use my ps3 controller on mac. I try latter!
