XBOX 360 controller on a Mac
Can I use an XBOX 360 controller to play games on my Mac? If so, how do I go about it?

Hi, you simply must only connect well and whether with or without cables!

download the driver from http://tattiebogle.net/index.php/ProjectRoot/Xbox360Controller/OsxDriver

Some games on Steam have native support like Portal and Portal 2, Half Life 2. Others like Half Life, HL Blue Shift and HL Opposing force don't... for those games you have to make your own binds with third part apps like Joystick Mapper. I'm sure there's lot's of other games that support controllers for the Mac - I've only just got into it and those are the ones I know for sure that work.

I'd recommend googling "xbox 360 controller mac" as there's lot's of helpful tips online.

Yes, you need a wired controller or a wireless controller with the Wireless Gaming Receiver.
Here's a guide:

You need a wired controller and you should also download that driver from tattiebogle the guy above mentioned :D

If it turns out that the driver doesn't work, try downloading the previous version. .12 didn't work for me, so i couldn't do anything. .11 worked perfectly fine though.

#1, You CANT use a wireless x360 controller UNLESS you have the wireless reciver for windows (it works on mac with a driver called Tattliebogle or something)
#2, You CANT use a wireless x360 play and charge kit at all. That only charges it, no data transfer. (Yes, the xbox 1 controller will be able to used wiredly when it come out btw)
#3, You CAN use a wired controller.

With that said, if you have the legit wireless reciever (for the wireless controller) OR a wired controller, use the tattlieboglie driver 0.12 (or the latest at the time). Next plug in your reciever or your wired one and play. If your having issues, it might be because some games have their own version of the driver...namedly games like Borderlands 2...so then you will have to delete that driver (which is a pain in the [insert profanity]). I will have instructions on the bottom for people who want to delete the driver. Nonetheless, a weird thing to note is that big picture requres you to have the tattlieboglie driver (or some other driver) since it wont work with your controller natively. That wont matter if your playing a game that also requres the driver. However, if your playing games like borderlands 2...it will be weird in big picture since...you will have to use a mouse and keyboard to navigate the big picture.

Here is the tattlieboglie driver:
http://tattiebogle.net/index.php/ProjectRoot/Xbox360Controller/OsxDriver

Here are the uninstall instructions:
/Library/Application Support/MICE/360Daemon
/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.mice.360Daemon.plist
/Library/PreferencePanes/Pref360Control.prefPane
/System/Library/Extensions/360Controller.kext
/System/Library/Extensions/Wireless360Controller.kext
/System/Library/Extensions/WirelessGamingReceiver.kext
